API Legal Outreach and our partners cordially invite you to join us on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 5:30 pm for an SF Bay Area DACAThon!
It’s a party with a purpose: to get people to apply for DACA!
Tuesday, April 12, 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm
at Impact Hub San Francisco, 925 Mission Street, San Francisco, CAAteendees must RSVP through Eventbrite: http://tinyurl.com/sfdacathon

What’s a DACA-thon?
It’s like a Hackathon, except that instead of teams working to come up with a tech solution (like an app), we’ll be coming up with a communications/ social media campaign to get more Bay Area residents to apply for DACA. The winning team will get a prize and the winning campaign will help more Bay Area residents access the benefits of DACA!

Who:
Participants can be DACA recipients themselves, other undocumented immigrants, or their allies — anyone interested
in immigrant rights or social media / communications.

What is DACA?
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is a federal program launched in 2012 that has helped undocumented immigrants who came to this country as children gain access to a work permit and protection from deportation.

The Challenge:
Only 62% of eligible Californians have applied for DACA.
That means many DACA-eligible immigrants are not accessing its benefits.(These include freedom from fear of deportation, getting a better job, having an ID to go to nightclubs, etc.)

Your mission:
Create a social media communications campaign to encourage eligible undocumented immigrants who live, work or go to school in San Francisco to apply for DACA.

How much does it cost?
It’s free! (Plus free food provided.)

What you need to bring:
Just yourself (and any friends or colleagues if you’d like)!
If you have a laptop or a smart phone, feel free to bring it along, but it’s not necessary.

You don’t need to do any homework. We’ll give you all the info you need!
